The Israel - Palestine Story
The Israel - Palestine Story

This book is honestly a love letter to humanity and the human spirit. So far, almost everyone approaches the Israel-Palestine issue with a moral appeal. They were there first, or they were there firster. Who is a terrorist, and who is the occupier, and a host of others. The result is that we pick sides and stop learning about the issue. Well, no more!
Let's travel through history and understand who the Israelis and the Palestinians really are. We begin our journey in the Bronze Age and understand the trials and tribulations of multiple people living in a tough neighbourhood and how they became a family, a very Jewish family.
From there, we see the ups and downs of a people hellbent on being unique, even at the cost of their lives, such is the allure of identity. We see them being brown (but unbowed) by the mighty empires of their time till they were scattered to the winds. And from this pivotal point, we trace the different journeys of two sons of Israel, one Jewish and one Muslim.
From the greed of empires down to the hatred of cultures, we see how both the children were unjustly punished and how the trauma kept adding up to define their psyches as it does today. And finally, we visit the chapters where we narrate the unhappy tale of the brothers meeting again in a place equally home to both.
But from their clash and the ashes of a thousand arguments, we will find the Gold of Humanity and human spirit calmly calling out to us to see the very obvious solutions to this problem. Solutions that rely on logic and a whole lot of empathy.
This book will make you harder to manipulate, more capable of seeing both sides clearly, and more able to think in terms of incentives, systems, and human reality.
